Welcome back Taiwan!...Oh, and the whisper bots have returned
Anyone else notice in the last week that the whisper bots have returned to the highly populated towns like Kamadan, LA and Great Temple of Balthazar?
These whisper bots are promoting gold-selling websites as usual, so I've been reporting each one.
Funny how these bots came back almost immediately after the Taiwan region was reconnected to the rest of the Guildwars population.
Coincidence? I think not...

"They"?
What is this - "I can be a racist idiot too - lesson 1"?
There is a bot issue.
Not a Taiwanese issue.
Any chance of getting that though our thick heads?

It sucks for the legit players from those areas to suffer. It's too bad that their government sees scamming, annoyance, spam and general misconduct as an industry. The vast majority of all internet crap (botnets, spam, phishing) all comes from Asia.

It's a government issue and their lack of enforcement.

Grow up, stop QQ'ing, and stop playing the race card. It only makes you look like more of a retard.

You must have missed the correlation of the two... I now refer you to Renowned Spartan's retort.
I love Lord of the Rings Online's way to deal with this. You can right click on a name in Chat, then go to Report as Spammer and automatically get a ticket, AND it auto ignores them. People play games where you see how low a trouble ticket you can get for reporting a gold spammer.
The easier it is for us to report, the better. Trying to type out Wwsedgjlwef is no fun.

Actually this could have been done in a different way.
The OP could have presented that he hadn't been harassed by gold spammers in quite some time.
Lately has has seen the return of gold spamming.
He has noticed this after the Taiwan servers had been reconnected.
This way:
1. we establish the problem
2. we establish the TIME FRAME of this problem
3. we don't make ANY kind of accusations
And what we have seen here is the problem being attributed to a certain population.
That's why it's an issue.

Can't say I've gotten any of those yet. Then again, I haven't been lingering in towns or outposts too much.

I will gladly take a few more gold-selling whispers rather than exclude multiple regions of the playerbase.
Yes, I've felt an increase, but feel that it's for the best. Then again I'm usually set to off-line anyways.

agree with the op, i had a silence in the whisper for item selling while they where away, dont think its a coincidence, i rather not have the entire region than people selling stuff for bucks.

Well, it seems that you guys missed the point. Originally they were blocked because the Taiwaneese goverment set up a rule that made it ilegal for anet to ban accounts for selling gold or EULA violations for accounts playing in servers in taiwan.
Anet closed the district and started to shut down all servers in taiwan. Once that was done, they transfered all the accounts to US servers. That way they can ban the accounts for those botting or Spamming.
I'm sure anet did not wanted to lose all those players in taiwan. They just closed while they transfered the accounts over here to have more control.

Ummm....Taiwan is not a race. It is a geo-political entity. Race was never mentioned in the OP's post and the individual you are quoting used a pronoun referencing Taiwan not a racial group.
Both the OP and the individual you quoted are merely expressing an opinion as to the source of a problem based on observation and analysis of said observations.
Even if those observations are at best circumstantial evidence noting them and expressing opinions based on them is not racism. In fact such opinions are a common sense reaction to certain patterns of activity. For example:
Joe is a member of my circle of friends....
Whenever joe came over to my house with my other friends all of my beer disapeared.
Joe moved away and immediately the beer disapearance ceased.
Joe came back for an extended visit. The beer disappearances immediately started up again.
Under such circumstances it would be only logical to suspect Joe of taking my beer.
The OP posted that he didnt, "think," that it was a coincidence and stated that the whispers began in a time frame comparable to the reconnect of the Taiwan region which obviously roused his suspicions.
The individual you quoted merely agreed with the OP's suspicions.
I am sorry but deciding to assign racist motives in a situation where the statements were based on observable patterns of activity.
Point..
Did the gold seller whispers slow or stop during Taiwan's absence (It seemed so to me) ?
Did they return after Taiwan's reconnect (I'm not sure havent PVP'd in a few days)?
If the answer to those questions is yes then Gloryfox's statement is merely a statement of fact.
Last point..
calling someone names because they have stated an opinion based entirely on observable patterns of activity and then accusing that person of racism in order to discredit their observations and opinions is the weakest possible sort of debate tactic. You cant disprove their point or even offer a counter to their conclusions so you attempt to smear them in an effort to redirect the argument away from their conclusions. I am sorry to say that the only person guilty of prejudicial statements here is you.
